When Children Sleep Too Late
When Children Sleep Too Late
Sleeping well at night will make our day more vibrant and have higher quality, but it's not uncommon for many of us to experience sleep problems, even in children and toddlers. They also often experience it. There are many things that can keep children awake even though it is late at night. We should not let our children stay up late too often because such intensity can have a negative impact on growth and development. Not only has an impact on the growth and development of children, children who sleep late from the curfew of sleep, might also make the parents frustrated because they lose sleep and rest time as well.
Children who sleep too late will usually find it more difficult to get up early. If they are forced to wake up, children can experience sleep deprivation and not be in a good mood in the morning. Of course this will have an impact on your little one's mind, making it difficult to focus and concentrate and slow in receiving information. Another effect is that the child's condition becomes increasingly weak and sleepy so that they are not enthusiastic and lazy in doing tasks and daily activities at home or school.
Not only that, a study about time and quality of sleep in children also shows that children who are used to sleeping after 10 pm are more at risk of experiencing developmental disorders in the nervous system. This can certainly have negative effects on behavior as well. The later your child sleeps, the more severe the behavioral disturbances that occur. Moreover, if children sleep too late continuously, of course the effect will be even more fatal on the child's pattern of cognitive development and behavior.
In the morning and afternoon, it's usually the time for children to move more and interact with their surroundings, either at school or at home. When children sleep too late, he will wake up later and choose to sleep more during the day so that the child does not feel sleepy during his bedtime at night. When this cycle continues, it will increasingly make the child sleep too late and it will be increasingly difficult to make the child's sleep on time at night. On the other hand, this can also cause the child's body to not be trained to move more actively according to their age and easily get sick.
When your little one doesn't sleep at night, the prefrontal cortex or the front part of the brain tends to suffer damage caused by lack of oxygen as the body does not get enough rest. The more often we let children sleep late, it will make it difficult for children to receive information and learn at school or at home. If it is not handled immediately, the long-term effects will make your little one slow and less alert in thinking and solving problems.
This does not rule out the impact of obesity on children. When refusing to sleep at night, their body will expend a lot of energy because they feel sleepy, so children often snack before going to bed and consume food outside their meal schedule. Including sweet snacks or sweet drinks.
As parents, we certainly want our little one to be healthy, happy, smart, cheerful and enthusiastic and have a good and friendly personality towards parents, teachers and friends. Don't take it for granted when our children don't have enough and quality sleep at night. Create a comfortable sleeping environment so that it is easier for your little one to fall asleep at night so that his mental and physical health is maintained. When you can't find a solution to improve the quality of your child's sleep at night, don't hesitate to consult with experts.
