Benefit of Becoming Early Riser
Waking up early is often associated with success, a more organized life, and less stress. For that many motivators advise you to start the day by getting up early. However, of course getting up early is not always easy to do. Research also shows that genetically there are people who are easier to wake up in the morning, there are people who are easier to be productive at night. However, what about our daily lives which often require us to get up early.
One way to get us up early is with motivation. Trying to understand how and the benefits of getting up early for the body and ourselves. Through his book Robin Sharma writes how getting up early at 5 am brings many benefits for physical, mental health and increases our professional abilities. In his book “The 5 AM Club”, Robin Sharma writes about the various benefits of getting up early at 5 am.
Robin Sharma writes that when you wake up at 5 am, the first hour you use when you wake up will provide comprehensive benefits that can improve your overall health, productivity and abilities. He divided it into 20 minute intervals. In the first 20 minutes after you wake up, do some physical exercise. This physical exercise will reduce the hormone cortisol which increases when you wake up, and increase the release of endorphins that will make us more enthusiastic and relaxed. Robin Sharma himself said that to achieve our dreams, for example to build a multinational company, we need to live healthy long enough for the dream to succeed. Therefore, we need to have a healthy body.
After exercising, for 20 minutes, Robin Sharma advises us to do reflection for 20 minutes. This reflection can be done in the form of prayer, writing, meditation. The purpose of this reflection is to make us more focused on the purpose of life, reduce stress, and also to make us calmer.
After some reflection, Robin Sharma suggests the last 20 minutes of the first hour we wake up to study. Learn about anything that will improve our skills professionally. Fill this last 20 minutes with good learning from books, podcasts, webinars, audiobooks, etc. Which is most helpful when we learn.
By doing physical exercise, reflection, and study in the first 60 minutes after we wake up, this will help us to be healthier, calmer and focused, and smarter and master the areas we want to master. However, of course getting up early is not an easy thing especially with the endless exposure to technology and entertainment, of course it is more difficult for us to wake up early because we sleep late at night.
Things that can be done to make us sleep faster include turning off all gadgets at 8 pm, turning on the alarm if necessary, setting 2 alarms to wake us up in the morning. In addition, we can also prepare rewards after we wake up, for example by drinking our favorite drink when we wake up in the morning. If you are a parent with children at an age who still often wakes up at night, of course it will be more difficult to control your time. For that, you also need to pay attention to the night routine with the child that makes it easier for the child to sleep at bedtime.
