Activity Reccomendation to Stimulate 3-6 Months Baby
Babies at the age of 3-6 months have developmental targets, including head upright when seated, looking at own hands, holding toys, turning right and left, lifting chest when prone, prone and supine alone, observing small objects and pictures, turning to a rattling sound, trying to reach for a toy, turning when his name is called, and putting his hand/biscuit in his mouth.
To achieve these developmental targets, parents can carry out stimulating activities to achieve their development targets. Some recommended activities for Mom and Dad to do at home include:
- Increase tummy time
Increase tummy time on a comfortable floor, for example on a playmat. Encourage your baby to talk and play by placing some toys around the tummy time area. However, don't push yourself to do this for too long. When your baby is showing irritable behavior, such as whining, even crying, pick up your baby. You can do tummy time again at another time of the day. Tummy time activities only need to be done by babies about 30 minutes per day.
- Start introducing appropriate toys
You can give objects or toys for the baby to hold. Then you can give another toy for the baby to hold. If your child first holds it with the right hand, give the next toy also to hold in the right hand. The baby will then try to move the toy from one hand to the other. It should be noted that the toy is light enough so that it is not difficult for the baby to hold. In addition, do not give sharp toys, and the toys need to be large enough so that they are not swallowed. Types of toys that can be introduced by parents include toys that can move, sound, or light up when the baby manipulates them, so that the baby is encouraged to do it repeatedly.
- Stimulate baby to laugh
Parents can do this by tickling the baby, such as tickling on the palms of the hands and stomach. Parents can also show various funny expressions and say using words that your child finds funny. New toys and items can also be introduced to babies to keep them interested, after the baby looks at these objects, parents can play with expressive and speaking styles that can make babies laugh.
- Invite your baby to talk
Although babies at the age of 3-6 months can not talk yet, it is important for you to stimulate the development of language aspects by regularly talking to your baby. For example, you could say, “Good morning.” and ask permission when you want to change the baby's diaper. Try to speak in a positive, expressive tone, and seek baby eye contact when speaking.
In addition, it is also important to respond to the baby when he makes a sound, you can respond by answering roughly if the baby can talk, what he wants to talk about. You can also respond when your baby sneezes, coughs, and burps. When you talk to your baby, you need to give your baby an opportunity to respond by pausing every now and then.
You can also sing to your child. There's no need to be shy when it comes to singing with babies. This is important because babies are better able to pick up on words when they are sung. For example, you can create a special song every time you change your baby's diaper, or you can start changing the nursery rhyme and adapt it to your activities and the baby.
