Activity Ideas that will Bond Siblings
Have you ever felt that your childrens rarely play together? Or maybe your childrens spend more time playing with technology than playing together? If so, you are not alone, sometimes going through a mundane day can be boring and confusing to pass, as a result, we are back to playing gadgets or watching tv again. Here, I don’t demand you and your children to be productive all the time. Watching tv or playing with gadgets for a long time sometimes cannot be avoided because sometimes we go through ordinary days that are less productive, and that's okay every now and then, as long as we know the limits.
If you have several children of your own, navigating your children to have a good relationship with each other can be a challenge. We never know when our children will fight. Inevitably, we need to be an interventionist among them. Especially if your children spend more time together at home, we need to make a strategy for them to spend time together better.
If your children still lack a deep bond or closeness, choosing activities or games for them to do together can foster a sense of closeness between them, and they will know each other better. So, let's take a look at some non-tech activity ideas that your kids can do together, and some activities you can also participate in:
- Pillow Sumo (+ 2 Years)
This activity is quite easy to do and also involves the child's physique! It's as if your kids are sumo athletes, by adding pillows to their bodies and they sumo each other. You just need to prepare the following items for each of your children: 2 pillows, a large T-shirt, belt/strap, and a children's helmet (if there is one, if not, you just need to pay more attention to your children so this doesn't happen. head crash). And make sure your children play in a place that has a soft and safe surface, such as on a mattress, or on a carpet that has thick foam.
- Musical Chair (+ 3 years)
This game can be played by children by the age of 3 years old, because this game requires an understanding of the rules of the game. But these games can be very interactive and also build cooperation and train concentration. Prepare several benches (depending on the number of players), then place them in a circle (outwards), set the song, and when the song stops, your child must sit when the song stops, gradually, the number of seats must be reduced and the remaining 1 seat, and your child must try to be a winner in this game. And you can be an administrator in this game, such as explaining the rules, and arranging songs.
- Scavenger Hunt (+ 5 years)
Basically, this activity requires your child to look for the objects you ask for. You can prepare a “Scavenger Hunt” list according to the theme, for example “Color Scavenger Hunt”, so the children have to look for objects according to the list of colors you provide, and the child who gets the most objects and has the most various colors is the winner. This game not only trains children's visual abilities and understanding of surrounding objects, but also fosters curiosity in children.
- Questions Card (+ 7 years old)
If this activity can be done in a relaxed manner, you and your children can sit on chairs and just take the question cards that are already available. Now there are many question cards available on various platforms as well, ranging from free to paid ones. You just choose what theme you want to ask your children, for example about their preferences.
- Board Games (+ 9 Years)
Board games are one of those classic games that anyone would love to play. Like snakes and ladders, monopoly and ludo! Bumblebook has a recommendation for an interesting board game that is quite unique, called Coconuts. So each player has the opportunity to throw a ball (in the shape of a coconut) from the hand of the monkey doll in front of him to be inserted into the glass behind the monkey doll's body, sounds fun, isn’t it?
- Painting (All Ages)
This one activity is actually quite simple, namely painting. Painting activities can be done easily, anywhere, and with anything! For example painting on easter eggs, or painting on canvas (traditional painting). In addition, the ingredients are also easy to find in various places. And this activity can also train their fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and increase their creativity!
So, those are some of the activities that Bumblebook has provided for your children that can strengthen the bond between your children and their siblings. Vary each activity at different times, so that the children don't get bored and have a lot of knowledge about these activities.
